If you are a person looking after a relative, neighbour or friend in the City of Subiaco, who requires help to remain independent in the community, the city considers you to be a carer. A carer does not have to be in receipt of a carer's allowance from the government or live with the person they are caring for.

A carer can be a:

  • husband or wife
  • daughter or son
  • parent
  • family member
  • neighbour
  • friend.

The city provides support, information, activities and programs for carers including:

  • carers’ afternoon teas
  • carers’ outings
  • information about support networks/referrals
  • in-home services
  • Meals on Wheels
  • respite
  • advocacy
  • positive ageing and wellbeing events.
